What was the purpose of your taking the exam? |
it will advance me in work and its an industry standard
|
Did you have any experience with XML prior to taking the exam? |
very little, no experience with the technical side of the exam e.g. xpath, xslt
|
How much time did you put into studying for the exam? |
it took a significant effort mostly due to the fact that it was my first time seeing xpath and xslt, i typed out a lot of the code just to build an instinct for it.

Let us know about any books, seminars or other preparation tools you used to study for the exam. |
The XML Master tutorial is very good but it may let the student underestimate the technical sophistication of the actual exam. The O'Reilly XML pocket reference 2nd. ed is probably the best overall book for the exam but the student will need to look as xml schema and xslt in more detail (O'Reilly does very good books for both). One strong recommendation is to stay away from the SAM's XML books e.g. XML in 24 hours, they have a very poor technical knowledge, just not suitable for exam preparation.

Please share any post-exam thoughts or advice for those who will be taking the exam. |
Don't underestimate the difficulty of doing 50 questions in 60 minutes; you will need to on the tips of your toes to score the 70% to pass, time will fly!. I found the exam to be significantly harder than the sample exam; you are really tested on schema and XSLT, namespaces etc.
